While struggling through the minutiae of publishing my book, PANTS ON FIRE, along came ASK Studio and saved my bacon. With their developmental editing, plus internal and external design help, cover prep and all the attention to detail that go into book publishing, ASK Studio showed precise craftsmanship in the process in toto. I’m going to start with them next time.

I.

Understand the Manuscript

I'll begin with a careful, thoughtful reading of your manuscript. You'll receive a comprehensive editorial letter (a diagnostic report) outlining your book's strengths, opportunities for growth, and recommended revision priorities, along with detailed comments throughout the manuscript and a practical revision roadmap.

II.

Strengthen the Manuscript

Revision is where good manuscripts become great books. Rather than handing you feedback and wishing you luck, I stay alongside you through the process. We work through your manuscript in thoughtful stages, answering questions, solving problems, and refining your book one sentence at a time. My role is to provide clarity, encouragement, and honest editorial guidance while you do the important work of shaping your manuscript.

III.

Refine the Manuscript

Once the major revisions are complete, I perform a careful final editorial review. This stage focuses on clarity, consistency, flow, voice, and the countless details that help a manuscript read smoothly and professionally before it moves into production.

IV.

Present the Manuscript

Once your manuscript is ready, we'll decide what comes next. Some authors pursue literary agents or traditional publishers. Others choose to publish independently. Together we'll determine the path that best fits your goals before moving into production. If you choose independent publication, I'll transform your manuscript into a professionally designed book. That includes thoughtful typography, chapter design, front and back matter, page layout, ebook formatting, and coordinating your cover so every element works together as a cohesive whole. I'll also help prepare your cover for publication. If you already have a cover concept or designer, I'll make sure everything is correctly formatted and production-ready. If you're still exploring ideas, I can help you develop the layout, coordinate with a professional cover designer when needed, and ensure the final cover works seamlessly with your book's interior. You'll receive press-ready files, and we'll review physical proofs together before publication.

V.

Launch the Book

Publishing can be intimidating. I'll guide you through the final steps—from preparing files for KDP and reviewing proofs to checking metadata and making sure everything is ready before you click Publish. I'll also help verify that the cover, interior, and metadata are all working together correctly before your book goes live. My goal is that your book enters the world looking as professional as the work you've put into writing it.
